Project Overview:

Challenge: Update a 20-year-old website that was built with pure PHP. The main objective was to enhance the user experience and add new features for clients, specifically pool dealers.

Key Enhancements:

1. User Experience (UX) and Interface Design (UI):

   • The previous site had an outdated design, and the user interface was not optimized for ease of use.
   • We utilized our expertise in UX/UI to improve the site’s layout, structure, and navigation. Key improvements include:
     • Category Organization: We restructured product categories that were previously disorganized.
     • Dealer Tools: Added a dedicated section for dealers to track their orders, especially the PMS and AB systems, which were manually done before. Now, dealers can easily manage and place orders.
     • Product Pages: Enhanced product listing pages for better navigation and visual appeal.

2. Laravel 9 Technology Stack:

   • Rebuilt the backend with Laravel 9, which provides a robust and scalable foundation. This allowed us to enhance the system’s security, performance, and maintainability.

3. Dealer Portal:

   • Previously, dealers lacked a comprehensive tool for tracking orders. We introduced a dedicated dealer portal that allows users to manage orders, track their progress, and make new requests.
   • Rewritten AB calculation code for accuracy and integration with dealer tools.

4. Product Categorization:

   • Improved product categorization, which made it easier for users to find specific pool parts, liners, and accessories. This change also improves the overall navigation experience.

5. Mobile Responsiveness:

   • Optimized the website for mobile use, ensuring that dealers and customers can access all features on any device, making the site more versatile.

6. SEO and Speed Optimization:

   • Enhanced SEO features to ensure better search engine visibility and optimized load times for a faster user experience.

Visual and Functional Updates:

• New Product Layouts: Products are now clearly categorized with images for a better user experience.
• Dealer Tools: Introduction of tools like the Picture Measuring System (PMS) for dealers to easily create pool designs and request the correct products.
• Error Handling and Support: We implemented friendly error pages (like 404s) with clear contact options, reducing frustration for users.

This overhaul not only updated the look and functionality of Highbury Pools’ website but also empowered their business operations with a more efficient backend system, contributing to smoother workflows for dealers and customers alike.
